Misinformation, disinformation, and fact checking. We are another step closer towards the censorship of free speech with the Governments recent amendments to the Communications Legislation Amendment (Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation) Bill 2024 (MAD Bill). Changes to the 2023 draft bill included reinforced protections to safeguard freedom of speech, strengthened transparency and accountability on the ACMA and digital platforms.
Of course, the MAD Bill doesn’t apply to “the reasonable dissemination of content for academic, artistic, scientific, or religious purposes.” So, we can be assured that just like during the ‘Pandemic’ the ‘facts’ that ultimately turned out to be ‘lies’ will continue. The, biggest spreader of misinformation is the Government itself; driven by global organisations and global agendas.
First vax misinformation, then all misinformation. The US Department of Health and Human Services is spending $4 million USD to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) tool designed to “inoculate” social media users against “misinformation”. Could this AI Tool be used by the Australian government? Probably, given the recent meeting between Anthony Albanese and Joe Biden at the recent ‘Quad caucus’.
The grant has been awarded to an Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania whose research focus is on increasing vaccine uptake and strategies to combat misinformation. The team will collect data from YouTube, X, Facebook and Instagram. “The researchers say that if successful, their tool can be adapted to “swiftly and efficiently” address “misinformation” regarding COVID-19, childhood vaccinations and cancer treatment.”
